Arcade Mania
In between the major high street shops you will discover a maze of beautifully splendid arcades. Each with their own individual character, Leeds Arcades are little wonderlands of shopping heaven.
The Victoria Quarter
This arcade is possibly the most talked about. You will definitely spend more that a few bob on your visit, more than likely breaking the student budget. Anyhow, a visit to Victoria Quarter could quite possibly make you fall in love with Leeds.
Clothes shops include:
— Harvey Nichols
— HOBBs
— Firetrap
— Karen Millen
— Jack Wills
— All Saints
There are also jewellery shops such as Links of London, Berrys and Azendi. You would be missing out if you didn’t stop off for lunch at the Opposite Cafe in front of the spectacular water features.
As you can see from the above list, a rich relative would be a perfect companion for a trip to this arcade. Entrance to the arcade is on Lower Briggate and York Road.
County Arcade
Adjacent to the Victoria Quarter and just as glam, the County Arcade hosts a range of clothes shops and jewellers along with many other delights.
Particular fancies include:
— Bayliffe and Lupton card shop
— Firetrap
— Kookai
— Molton Brown Cosmetics
— Vivienne Westwood
— Quiksilver
Thorntons Arcade
Jewellers, coffee shops and hairdressers dominate this arcade.
Coffee shops include:
— Bagel nash
— Starbucks
— Lillians
Jewellers include:
— Argent
— Gold connection
— Leeds Jewellery Co.
— Weinstein
Hairdressers include:
— West Row
— Modern Hairdressing
— First Floor Hairdressing
Other good shops include Blacks, Ok Comics and The Pen Shop.
Queens Arcade
It has to be my favourite arcade because the best cafe in Leeds is right in the middle. Pickles and Potter (it’s twin café is in Headingley) is number one for sandwiches, a cup of tea and a brownie.
Other shops in the arcade:
— Independent clothes shops and boutiques
— The antique dealer, Aladdins cave
— Gift Shops: Art of Africa and Octopus
— Berkertex Bride
