Fitness Freak
Starting university completely changes your lifestyle. Your diet undergoes a regeneration and your routine is uprooted. So it’s no surprise that your body changes too. Here is some essential information for starting a new fitness-style hobby or if you would like to maintain an active lifestyle.
University gym facilities are likely to be your best bet both financially and geographically.
Leeds University has recently undergone a drastic renovation of its sports facilities. ‘The Edge’ is a brand spanking new complex, hosting facilities such as the largest indoor sports halls in Leeds, an 8 lane swimming pool, a climbing wall and squash courts. You can also get involved in outdoor facilities and fitness classes. There are a vast array of clubs and societies that might also tickle your fancy. The Edge website.
Membership:
- Free at off peak times for students living in halls
- An annual pass for other students is £150
- Alumni and public memberships are also available, have a gander at the website for details.
Leeds Met hosts the well renowned Carnegie Faculty, providing high quality sport, fitness, facilities and opportunities. There are gyms on both campuses which have recently undergone refurbishment. There is a swimming pool on the Headingley Campus and many sports courts. There are too many sports clubs to mention and a whole host of fitness classes.
Membership prices for Leeds Met Sports, Health and Fitness:
- £100 annually for students (or £10 per month); this gives you access to gym facilities and allows you entry to classes. It is £4 per class without the pass.
- £200 for the public
